For more than 30 years, the Russell family has proudly called Jeffersontown home. We raised our children here, enjoyed our well-maintained neighborhoods, and built lasting relationships in a community known for safety, pride, and a strong sense of belonging. As your City Council member, I’ve worked to protect what makes J-Town special and guide responsible growth that benefits all residents. Together, we’ve made real progress. 

This past year, we opened the J-Town Amphitheater, a new place where families can gather for music, make memories, and spend time together. It’s more than an entertainment venue; it shows how much we value quality of life. We also moved our Police Department into a new headquarters. This modern, purpose built facility gives our officers the support they need and helps keep our community safe. It’s another step toward maintaining one of the best police departments in Kentucky. 

We’ve also grown Jeffersontown’s Rainy Day Fund so we’re prepared for the future while keeping property taxes level and services reliable. I bring that same focus on careful spending from my decades in Insurance, where looking ahead and making sound decisions were part of the job. 

Now, Norton Healthcare’s new Children’s Hospital is coming to Jeffersontown. This project will bring excellent pediatric care closer to our families, create hundreds of jobs, and make our city a leader in health care and innovation.  

Through my prior service as chair of the Jeffersontown Economic Development Authority, Jeffersontown Chamber of Commerce and the Plainview Residents Association, I worked to make sure growth strengthens our community without changing its small-town character. Development should respect our neighborhoods. Our police, public works teams, and city employees deserve the tools and support they need. Jeffersontown should remain a place where families can live, work, play, and thrive. 

Looking ahead, my priorities are clear: 

1. Keep our community safe. 
2. Invest in roads and other infrastructure. 
3. Support local businesses and responsible development. 
4. Protect taxpayer dollars through open and accountable government. 

As our city grows, we must protect the quality of life, strong neighborhoods, and community spirit that make Jeffersontown a great place to call home. 

We’ve made progress, but there’s more to do. On November 3, I ask for your vote to continue serving on City Council. Look for Mark Russell, Ballot Position #13.
